Appraisal Fees

1. Formal Appraisal Reports

We charge standard fees for most formal appraisals, as set out below. In some cases we have to charge an additional research fee but we will always advise you of this before undertaking the appraisal. The completed appraisal report is a comprehensive document that includes a full description, photograph and current value of each item.

Standard Fees: $150 for the first item, $40 for each subsequent item. Occasional additional research charged at $100/hour.

Large Estates or Collections

For large estates or collections it may be more economical to pay by the hour. We are happy to quote for the overall cost of an appraisal.

Standard Fees:$100/hour

Travelling expenses

We charge $20 to come to your home or office (within the City of Ottawa) in addition to the appraisal fees. Traveling costs beyond the City of Ottawa region will be charged at reasonable rates.

GST is added to all charges. Fees valid 2009

2. Verbal Appraisals

Some clients prefer to have a verbal appraisal. The advantage of a verbal appraisal is it is less expensive and many more items can be covered in the timeframe. We are happy for you to take notes.
Standard Fees:$100/hour, minimum charge $75.

3. Online Advice

If you live out of Ottawa or would find it easier to send us images of the items you want to have appraised, we offer and online advice service. If we feel we can give you advice we will send you an email with information about your item and details of a comparable item that has sold in auction. We charge a fee of $20 for this service. If it turns out you have something valuable, you might decide to ask us to undertake a formal appraisal. We will deduct the $20 fee from the cost of the formal appraisal.
